Just like the Mac version, Ember for iOS makes it easy to capture and organize images of all kinds. Ember is developed by Real Mac Software, a company dedicated to making delightful apps for Mac and iOS. Ember for iOS, paired with Ember for Mac, allows you to organize all your images and keep them organized across all your Apple devices. One of the missions of Ember is to help people collect their thoughts and save them for use with later projects. It makes it easy to snap photos on the go and immediately add those images to a project or collection in the app.

Ember makes it easy to do research using the Internet and create scrapbooks of inspiration. Ember for iOS is a great companion to the Mac version. When using it with Cloud-enabled devices, you can easily sync all your saved, organized images between your devices. This helps tremendously with project planning. When you are on the go, you can simply snap a picture from within a folder or collection and it will sync to your Mac version in the same place.

While Ember for iOS is a very clean, solid app for organizing images, there is one drawback – the in-app purchases. Ember for iOS has a retail price of $4.99 to download and then two in-app purchase options – one for Annotations and one for Auto-importing Screenshots.

This is something that we touched on in our previous review of Ember for Mac. Both of these features are available when you purchase the Mac version and something I expected to find when I opened the iOS version. Real Mac Software does make it clear in their App Store description that users will, “always be able to capture, organize and edit the things that inspire you for free.” Even though I am focusing on the one issue I have with Ember for iOS, I want to praise it for its ease of use. It works very easily with the iPhone’s Camera Roll. Ember will talk to that function flawlessly and import photos so that you can organize them inside Ember.

Once inside Ember, users can look at Everything, sort out photos by the main color used, look at Recently Added images, and review the collections. One other difference between the iOS version and the Mac version is the Subscription feature. In the Mac version, you can follow blogs and save images directly to your Ember library. This feature is not included with the iOS version. Ember for iOS works best with Cloud-enabled devices.

This allows you to syncs your Ember library across your devices. Users can share images easily through Messages, Mail, Twitter or Facebook. All in all, Ember for iOS is worth the purchase.
